Bergamesque Noblewoman's Gown

My goal on this project was to make an exact replica of the gown worn by Angelica Agliardi de Nicolinis in a painting by Giovanni Battista Moroni. This is definitely winter attire for a woman living in Northern Italy, so it is completely unpractical for most events in Texas... but I'm crazy and decided that I must have it anyway! But a freak Valentine's Day snowfall gave me the opportunity to take a few pictures with a more appropriate wintery background, and let me tell you, it feels so much better in sub-zero temperatures! You can see a few of the snow pictures here, and I am also happy to say that I finally took a picture that matched the portrait. I ended up building a fake chair out of cardboard since I couldn't find anything locally that would make a decent match. (once again, I do realize that I am quite insane!) And while I was playing "picture-day" I also took some new shots of the dress so that I could show off my new buttons and shoulder rolls. For more in-depth details about the materials and construction techniques, check out the dress diary for this project.
